A basic step by step pet page

  1. Go through your photos and decide what ones to use. It doesn’t matter if the photos is a little out of focus, some of mine are. As long as you can see the subject clearly and you like the picture of course, then use it.  Cut off ragged edges and dog ears. Make the edges straight and crisp by using sharp scissors or a paper cutter. Try to leave some scenery around the subject, but not too much.
  1. Pick the cardstock you want to use. I suggest you put the photos you are using on the paper so you can see if they go together. You using complimentary colours or opposite colours. If you’re not sure about what colours to use, look at a colour wheel. You can also read a previous article on this site about colour.
  1. Now it’s time to pick the embellishments you want on your page. It’s best not to use too many as they can make your page look cluttered and take attention from the main focus of the page – your pets!  Same as with cardstock, you want your extras on the page to be subtle and blend in with the rest of the page.  You don’t want anything to stick out like a sore thumb.
  1. Organise your photos on the page first, then add title, journaling, embellishments and move around until you are happy with the way the layout looks. Take everything off but lay it down somewhere clean, like your desk, the glue from the back to the front. Glue the cardstock the white cardboard sheet in your scrapbooking album. I usually only use a bit of roll on glue in the corners. Then continue gluing the photos and other bits to the page, from back to front, till everything is added.
