Ideas for Scrapbooking Pages

Necessary scrapbooking tools

There are a lot of scrapbooking tools, but you don’t need them all to create a great scrapbook layout. This subject was covered slightly in an earlier article in regards to the materials you would use but the article did not cover the scrapbooking tools themselves.

Adhesive
In a nut shell, this is glue and double sided tape. Make sure its acid and lignin free white glue for starters. Now when it comes to double sided tape, I normally start with a 10mm wide tape.

Craft Knives or hobby knives
This is useful to cut paper and other things, usually for the smaller, not so straight cuts. But the sharp blades can be dangerous if not handled correctly. They can be purchased at hobby stores. Make sure it has a steel lid for safety.

Hole Punch
At the start you should start with just a basic hole punch, and the further you get into it I would suggest getting a hole punch that is a bit more durable. You will find yourself later trying to punch through more than just paper.

Paper cutter
These are available in many sizes, from large to small. These contain a cutting blade in a plastic handle that needs to be pressed on to. These are best used for the long straight cuts, like when cutting card stock.

Ruler
At the beginning these are basically all the same. Just buy a simple plastic clear one, with measurements in imperial and metric on both sides. 300mm (30cm) in length is a good starting ruler.

Scissors
A normal pair of scissors will do, but try to stay away from plastic handles if you are able to, as some of the cheaper plastics handles break quite easily. It is also important to make sure the blade is sharp or you might tear your cardstock. If you want to invest more money in scissors you can also buy scissors that will cut patterns into the material you are using.

These are the basic scrapbooking tools you can use to start scrapbooking, now if you do not have all these tools or you just want to gain a wider selection of tool then I suggest checking out some of the online stores there are on our store page. I have personally purchased scrapbooking tools from all of the stalls and have never has a problem with a purchase.
